  1. this could be a interrupted input to the digital input as mentioned above but it also could be the DRM (Digital Rights Management) circuit kicking in.

If you are Playing a Digital Source with Copyright information on it you CANNOT make that a direct Digital-Digital Copy due to DRM restrictions you can only do these Via the Analogue conversion to strip the DRM and also reduce the signal quality.

This is a restriction built into all digital recorders thanks to the music industry I had this with a minidisk/Digital Audio Cassette min-DV/CD/DVD system ages ago and abandoned all formats except CD/DVD as a result of it!

  2. ok, if its not a lock issue, perhaps this:

just found the link below for someone that had the same problem as you. They found that their PC/Mac was out-putting at a higher sample rate than the MD could cope with.

If that's not it, there are a number of other suggestions on the link! :-)

Also found this on another link :

    When "D-IN UNLOCK !" blinks

… The program source is not connected to

the [DIGITAL INPUT 1] or [DIGITAL IN 2]

terminal even though you have selected

[DIGITAL 1] or [DIGITAL 2] with the

    [INPUT SELECTOR]. Either make the

    digital connection or select [ANALOG]

with the [INPUT SELECTOR] and perform

    analog recording.

… This message also appears when the

digital signal input is interrupted during

    digital recording. To continue recording,

    restart the digital program source.

  3. check all connections, leads etc, also check the input record settings:either analog/optical/digital IN.. and switch to the correct one. if it was a 'copy-protect/drm' issue, it would say 'no-copy' in display..  cheers
