Trying to remember this one movie from a while back...?

My boyfriend has been trying to remember this one movie from a while back. Now, he says it's from the 90s, but I'm sure it's further back than that.

This guy took body parts, like an arm and whatnot, and finally the heart, and put them together. He said something along the lines of: "the guy thought the corpse he created was Jesus".

Sounds like it could be "Reanimator" and it was from 1985.
