I am working for a sign company, trying to remove old, brittle reflective vinyl. Have tried heat gun, chemical called vinyl off, chemical from 3m thats used to take woodgrain vinyl off, eraser using a good drill, plastic chizzlers, mixed and matched all these, and none is really working. Took 1 hour to get a 6" x 13" letter off. Everything is not really helping to get it off any faster. Any suggestions, please! My thumb is about to fall off! Thank You!

  1. Have you tried using Goo-Gone?  Or acetone?  Those are the things that I use to take off stickers.  Goo Gone usually doesn't mess up anything that I have used, but the acetone can be harsh on some objects.......Oh, I use baby oil too.......Hope you can find something.....I know what it's like when you can't do something as fast and easy as you would like!!!

  2. We use to use lighter fluid to clean off stickers and lables, don't know if that would help though.  Wal-Mart sells goof off to get rid of all kinds of stuff, it might work.

  3. IF YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE PAINT JOB USE METHYLENE CHLORIDE -----IT REMOVES CONTACT CEMENT ON CONTACT AND WILL WASH PAINT OFF IF IT DOESN'T HAVE HARDENER IN IT .

  4. You may need to use Un-do and put something like a pad over the area taped around the edges to allow some time for it to seep under the edges. The packaging comes with a little scraper scoop thing so that helps to slide under the vinyl.

  5. Best just to sand it down to paint and primer....you will have to paint it anyway if it is that hard to remove.  Use body filler or primer to fill the sanding marks and sand with wet/dry 220 grit or finer. before re-paint.
