... until I tried to use the light switch.

I know it has something to do with the red wire located on outbox for the fixture. The outbox has a red, white and black wire. I've connected w-w, b-b, but the red wire is causing me to scratch my head. I've tried connecting it to the ground wire. My light works but when I try and turn it off via switch, it gives me a buzz & pop sound then trips the circuit breaker and takes out other lights. I've also tried to ground the grounding wire on the mounting bracket and cap off the red wire. My light fixture but it stays on. Light switch doesn't work at all it's like it's dead. So, I know that this red wire in the lighting fixture plays some role.

The light switch itself has 2 black, 2 white and a red wire. 2 blacks are twisted together and are held together by this black wire which connects to the switch and the red wire connects to the switch on the right side of it.
