  1. make sure if it has a wireless set up either internal or on the outside -if so sometimes on laptops theres a little on/off switch on the side. otherwise roll back or remove driver then reinstall.

  2. This looks detailed: http://www.tech-faq.com/setup-linksys-ro...

  3. I would suggest that you make sure everything is plugged in a such.

If everything's plugged in properly and such, I would suggest that you try repairing your connection by going to the Control Panel and then to Network and Internet Connections.

From there, you should right click on your connection and then choose Repair.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest that you make sure that your connection is enabled by going to the Control Panel and then to Network and Internet Connections again.

If your connection isn't enabled, I would suggest that you try right clicking on your connection and then choosing Enable.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!

  4. You've mentioned what your trying to do with the modem, but you have not mentioned HOW you're trying to CONNECT to the router.  Are you trying to connect wirelessly or wired?  Have you been able to successfully communicate with the router through your web browser using http://192.168.1.1    ?

Setting up WAPs is very easy to do. You MUST only configure one piece of the puzzle at a time.

    1. Plug your WAP into your cable modem or dsl modem

    2. plug your computer into the WAP (via the ethernet port).

    3. type:  http://192.168.1.1  into your webbrowser

    4. configure the WAP

    5. access the WAP wirelessly from another computer (via it's wireless card.

    6. move on to configuring the other computers.

  5. what you are saying doesn't make sence....

here is the typical sequence of events that go into setting upa wireless network.

    A. you have a Cable modem or some other high speed modem

    B. You have a wireless router attached to the modem, and physically attached to a computer.

    c. On the computer that is physically attached to the router, you then install the software for the router, configure the router... set up a wireless network name and soforth...

    D. Now, you can either physically attach another computer to the router, OR you can try to connect another computer wirelessly to the router.

To connect another computer wirelessly, you first need to have a wirelss card in the computer, and then you need to go into the wirelss software and get the software to connect to your Routers wireless network name. Note, do NOT try to connect by using  the "AD HOC" method.

If you have already done most of what I said, if your are trying to connect with a password, try disabling the password for your router.....like the other person says as well, some notebook computers have a tiny on off switch for the wireless connection right on the side...if your switch is set to off, forget it.....

Also, we don't know who your dad is, what base computer is, or anything else, or if these are connected to the internet, wired or wireless!!!!!!!!

Also, I have no idea if your are trying to connect THIS computer to the net wired or wirelessly!!!

Also, I am not sure if you are trying to connect wirelessly, and your notebook computer for example is is seeing the wireless routers network name, also known as the SSID, but you just can't connect.

    Too many questions........
