When I was younger, about 8 years ago when I was 5, I had a glass aquarium with a mesh lid from the 90's. It was full of fish, but a long, slender, black and white fish attacked every other fish in the aquarium and eventually killed them off. I had two bubble-eyed gold fish that I do not know the name off, and a group of smaller fish.

I would like to start another aquarium because I'm 8 years older and am capable of taking care of the fish. What would I need to start it up again? What fish would be best?

  1. first clean it out and scrub it with salt and water , rinse well and let air dry

add water and some kind of water filtration and depending what kind of fish get a heater.and add gravel ,plants plastic to start with ,once it's established you can add live ones.you might also want a light fixture for the top instead of a mesh lid.

let filter run for 2-3 days and get test strips to test water if everything is ok , go out and buy the fish you want , after you get them home let the bag with the fish float in the tank for 15 min and then release them into the tank with a net.

  2. Betas are good starter fish.

  3. This question would probably be best answered in the "Pet" category, under Fish.
