Okay my grandmother died 2 yrs ago and her estate has not been finalized. Before she passed she asked me to keep her car. I paid Title Service company to get my Grandmothers Title transferred into my name. The Title Service company had me to fill out a heirship affvidavitt and a couple other docs+ there fee to do it. When they down to the regristration office the people held them up and said that there was some kind of restraint on the car. ( It has been reported stolen by by uncle whom I have not seen in 5 yrs., he trying to b) I now have to take the car down to the Police station and, go through the procedures for getting this restraint taken off. I'm affraid the Police will arress me, when i bring the car to them. I have spoken with the Police department and they told me to just bring the car up to them. Once they clear the car then i can get the car registered. Should i go to the Police station , will they aress my family and I. I have not stolen anything.

  2. You're going to have to deal with the Uncles

complaint sooner or later. If she had title, it

shouldn't be too hard. If you can show that it's

part of an Estate, and that's how you got it,

your possession is not grounds for them to

arrest you. They might impound the car, but

it's reported stolen, you can't drive it anyway.

  3. If you haven't done anything then your in the clear!

  4. Just take it to the P.D. , explain situation and bring documentation . If your uncle was not legal owner , he technically can't report it stolen . If he has a signed title ( by your granny ) he might have forged it .

  5. How can a title service get a title transferred on a stolen vehicle.  Either it wasn't hot or the title is phony.  In any case

    they won't arrest your family.
