Trying to transfer VHS to mini DV?

So I hooked up my Samsung mini-dv to the vcr and can play the mini dv tapes on the television. But when I try to play a vhs tape it won't record onto the mini-dv. It shows up on the tv, but not on the viewfinder of the camera. Help please!

You have to turn on the A/D converter in the camera, which is somewhere in the menu.

Also, the video cables have to be plugged into the output sockets of the vcr, NOT THE INPUTS.

Turning on the A/D (if its not done automatically) will actually reverse the direction of the video plug on the camera.

No all cameras have an A/D, a model would help.

Example....I owned a Canon......GL2 and it had a A/D converter that had to be turned on manually.
