Trying to update psp with custom firmware wont work?

I have a psp slim version 4.01 I have been trying to add Dark Alex's Custom Firmware but every time i try and open the game it says operation failed. I followed all the steps shown.

you need a already cfw psp to make a magic m/s as well as buy a pandora battery as you have a slim

or you can use a program to make magic m/s but your still going to need a pandora battery the slim can not be modify to become a pandora

by the sound of thing you need to do a lot more reading on the subject before you even think about flashing your psp other wise your going to brick it very fast

To downgrade (and get a custom firmware) or unbrick your PSP, you need the Pandora's Battery. There is three ways to get the Pandora Battery.

1. Find a someone who has a Custom Firmware that is willing to let you borrow their psp. You will use their psp to softmod the battery. Meaning using software to make the Pandora. If you willing to do this, follow this guide:

2. Hardmod the battery. Meaning that you have to open that battery up, and pulling out a pin. Note that if you pull the wrong one, your battery would be messed. If you are willing to do this, follow this guide

You need to buy a Pandora's battery off of ebay or a site, Then turn your Memory stick into a MagicStick.
