  1. Check the setting to see if the drive is working or not.

Could be that the drive is faulty

    Give it a clean.

  2. Well. First you want to check if the drive you have works. Or even if it is a Cd writer and not a DVD writer.

Secondly, you want to check what type of CD drive. You can get multiple ones or CD-W, CD+W or CD-+RW. Most modern CD writer drives are CD-W.

Thirdly, you want to check you have the right type of CD. You can buy blank cds with CD-W and so on. Make sure you buy some that match your Computers drive.

And Lastly. Check that the Writable CD you are using is Blank and not got info on it. A good way to check is to go to My Computer and check one of the Removable disks for Files, or Music.

    Hope This Helps.

  3. you could try cleaning the drive but I have yet to get that to work.

Try deleting the drive in device manager and reboot

do you have the right type of disc's for the drive

Or the drive is faulty and need replacing

  4. Are you 100% certain the CD you are writing to is a blank CDR?...

Generally it tells you to insert a cd if the one inserted cannot be written to.

  5. had this problem before i don't think you have burnt a disk before.

use a different disk but if that doesn't help get a program (free) like Nero or just get a crack

  6. Is your drive connected?

    Is your CD Clean?

    Is your PC Compatible?

Is your CD in the write way?

If the answer is yes to all of these questions try this one

    Do other CD's work?

If they do then it is the disk

  7. a new disk

or see if your burner works on the type of cd. older ones don't support all speeds and some dvdrw's drives don't support cds

  8. No CD dialouge is showed if Windows (or any program) can access the media on CD. Check your CD writer, attach another writer (for test) and it will work.

  9. That usually happens to me if I tried to burn something on that CD and it failed or I interrupted it, such as ejecting or my computer crashing :(

It can be that the CD is corrupt, or there could be something wrong with the disc drive. Check if other normal CDs are read.
