  1. u can try but no guarantee.

  2. No chance. Once you report to Richardson you are required to remain there for at least one year (12 month stabilization). After that you can submit a 4187 and try to request a PCS to Bragg. Also you can request change of station if you reenlist. But I'm certain your reenlistment window is not currently open. Good luck and remember "suck it up" and deal with it. It's not that bad.

  3. You can request a cod station from the co, but that dosent mean you'll get it.  You gotta have a real good reason for the request,  but don't lie if they find out you're in deep ****.

  4. Are you still in training? If so, find someone of the same rank that wants to swap assignments with you. Sometimes they will allow this.

  5. Once your contract allows (read it-- it should indicate the minimum amount of time you are required to remain at Richardson-- usually between 12 and 24 months), you can submit a 4187 for chance of duty station. Since you're already airborne qualified, the chances of your request being approved is good.

Until then, do your time at Richardson, gain some experience, and enjoy the opportunity to see another part of the world. I know several people here at Bragg that are dying to go back to Alaska.

  6. Whew dude, my deepest sympathy. There probably isn't much you can do to be perfectly honest. I take it you went Airborne Unassigned? Knew a few guys that fell for that trick but it could be worse. Some of them got assigned to mechleg units right after airborne school. Talk about a slap in the face.

Try throwing down your best hardship act. Tell them that you have to see combat, it is your goal in life. Tell them you know 3rd Brigade is going back for their 4th and you have to be a part of it. I'd be willing to bet that you will find some Cadre that will pull strings and make a switch happen. It's been done before.
