What I mean is while waiting in the area where the gates are where the planes taxi enter one of those gates without a boarding pass

If you are sending a minor traveling by themselves, or have other special needs to be with someone else that is traveling, check with your airlines - they can issue a pass to get through security under special situations.

You have to pass security to get to the gate area....and to get through security you have to have a current day ticket/boarding pass.   So, If you do have a ticket for travel that day...once you go through security you pretty much can go to any gate area and stand....if that is what you are asking. You just can't enter any jetway or plane unless you are ticketed for that particular flight.
