Question

well i feed my turtle 2xs a in the morning and at night 5 med pellets :) #1.do u think this is a good amount he is 7 to 8 months old mind u, soooooo cute seem very healthy he likes to hide and poke his head out of the fake leaves:) oh and some times i feed him some freezed dryed blood worms he likes those i dont do it all the time tho, #2. y do turtles some times sit in the water with there mouth open for a long periods for time? r they drinking??? lol thank u

If he's healthy and active, then your feeding schedule should be good.  You might want to dust some of his food with a vitamin supplement (obviously use one meant for reptiles) and mix up his diet with the occasional treat of strawberries, watermelon or other fruit.

Turtles like to soak in water.  He probably is drinking, but he also probably enjoys just sitting in there.  A lot of turtles like to use their water as a toilet though too, so you have to keep it clean (don't want him drinking his toilet water :).

Diet- a daily portion is about the size of its head. I think you are overdoing it a little.

Freeze-dried foods are not as healthy as well-frozen stuff that is later defrosted. Frozen/thawed is messier, but lots better.

Sitting in the water mouth wide open is absorbing some air from the water in a resting position. It is pretty much taking a nap.
