Tubal ligation at four weeks post partum?

i don't know what to expect. Is this an admission to hospital procedure or an out patient procedure? What kind of recovery time is involved, and what kind of pain management will I need? I just had twins 10 days ago and have to return to work 2 weeks from tomorrow ( FMLA ran out). So, I'm trying to see how much time I will need to take off for this surgery. I thought if I get it done on a Friday so I have the weekend to recover right off, that would be ideal.. but then I need to know how much more additional time to apply off.

  1. You may want to consider the Essure procedure, it's non-invasive, it doesn't involve any incisions, the recovery time is much shorter and less painful than that of a tubal ligation.

Essure involves the placement of tiny spring coils into the fallopian tubes, causing the buildup of scar tissue, which blocks the tubes, preventing pregnancy.

I had this done back in 12/04, at the same time as an endometrial ablation.  Being that I had the ablation done as well, I had a bit more cramping/bleeding than someone who only has Essure done.  After Essure, you're up and about in a day.

  2. this is a question for your surgeon.

  3. Depends on how you feel.... Sorry I know a friend she took two weeks another took two months.

The general consesus is that full recovery is 8 weeks but you are able to move after a couple days. You should give at least one week for recovery. The first day you will feel groggy of course and your stomach will feel like you did to many sit-ups. Second day you'll probaby have some neck pain due to the bloating they do on you. And of course incision pain (if any) and bruising. After that you can pretty much go back to normal.. s*x and all.. But keep lifting to a minimum for a few weeks if you can.

    Good Luck
