Tube Amp with Good Cleans?

I'm looking for a tube amp that has good cleans, and works well with pedals. What is an amp that meets my requirements and is under $300? It doesn't need to be super loud; because if I ever end up using it on stage I'd mic it.

I just picked up an Epiphone Valve Jr. Love it. Sounds beautiful, and it can be modified if necessary, lots of resources for that on the web.

I'm going to do the same thing - I'm downgrading from my Mesa Boogie TremoVerb to this for live work. Yes, the Mesa is great and sounds amazing, but it's really loud and really heavy. I'm not getting any younger... my back has to hold out. =)

I've heard the Fender Champ has a good sound, but haven't played it myself. Kustom has a tube amp in the under 200$ category as well, but again, I haven't played it. Kustom has a great rock sound, so perhaps it isn't what you're looking for.

For me, the Epi was exactly what I was looking for, and that's before I start modifying it. =)
