  1. if you go to ...

    http://www.tesco.com/storelocator/

if you want the large shops, first of all click on Tesco Extra on the left hand side ... then either type the postcode where you'll be living, or the name of an area in the box ... then click on "locate store" and it will bring up a results list and show on the map all the Tesco Extra's in the area

if you have difficulty finding your way to that shop, click on the name of the shop and it will bring its full details up below the map ... then you can get the postcode for its address and go to

    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

where you can use the journey planner ... enter your home postcode and the postcode for the shop (drop down where it says "station or stop" and choose postcode) and it will give you full travel details between the two

I've just tried putting in an EC1 postcode, but all the Tesco Extra stores seem to be located a bit further out, roughly around the North Circular area ... I guess most of them are going to be geared to people in cars rather than public transport

although I did notice that the nearest to EC1 is listed as the one at Upper Edmonton ... this is right next door to IKEA Edmonton who provide a free shuttle bus service from Tottenham Hale tube station ... so you could get the Victoria line to Tottenham Hale and jump on the IKEA shuttle bus
