Tucson Ford shines in the Men’s 400m and 800m free-relay finals - Southwest Classic 2011
On the first day of the 2011 Southwest Classic, the swimmers of Tucson Ford doubled the delight for their team after nabbing two more golden crowns in the Men’s 400m and 800m free-relay finals at Tucson, Arizona, on June 13.
Tucson Ford’s swimmers including Nicolas Oliveira, Darian Townsend, Masayuki Kishida and Luke Pechmann took home the Men’s 400m free-relay crown with a victorious time of 3 minutes and 24.68 seconds.
The Men’s 800m free-relay title was clinched by four other swimmers including Townsend, AJ Tipton, Cory Chitwood and Oliveira of Tucson Ford with a winning time of 7 minutes and 33.23 seconds.
In both the Men’s long distance races, the speed and stamina played a critical role for swimmers in securing the fastest times for their club and nabbing the titles in the respective races. The Tucson Ford team comprised of experienced swimmers, who played
a major role in winning the golden crown for their associated club. Furthermore, their coordination and interconnected effort played a significant role in them snaring the titles in the corresponding races.
The Men’s 400m medley-relay crown was nabbed by Matt Grevers, Marcus Titus, Townsend and Pechmann of Tucson Ford with a fastest time of 3 minutes and 44.70 seconds. After the race, Marcus Titus, who earlier won the Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown claimed
that he is quite delighted and thrilled by the overall performance of his team in the corresponding event.
Earlier, Emily Seebohm won the Women’s 50m freestyle title with a sterling time of 25.82 seconds, while Alyssa Anderson nabbed the women’s 200m Individual Medley crown with a time of 2 minutes and 19.28 seconds.
In the Women’s 400m Individual Medley final, Anderson claimed the golden crown after he touched the finishing wall in a winning time of 4 minutes and 55.28 seconds. Matt Grevers secured the gold medal in the Men’s 50m freestyle with a winning time of 22.93
seconds, whereas, he also claimed the golden crown in the 100m freestyle with a sterling time of 50.32 seconds.
