Tuesday, TD Garden, Boston Bruins versus Chicago Blackhawks
The Boston Bruins will play host to the defending champions Chicago Blackhawks in another of Tuesday’s games. This is the only game between the two games during the course of the season. The last time these two met was during the course of the last season
where they were involved in a two games series. The Hawks emerged as winners of the series winning both games 5-4 and 5-2 respectively.
Times have changed and this time out, the Bruins are one of the top teams in the league and expected by many to win the lone meeting between the two teams. Marian Hossa has been brilliant throughout the course of the season. These types of performances have
cemented his position in the team. He was on ice for 23 minutes in his last game against the Detroit Red Wings and came up with a decent performance that saw him scoring in overtime and winning the game 3-2 after overtime.
"It's always nice to beat one of the top teams in their building, but I don't know if I had extra motivation (against Detroit)," said Hossa. "The motivation is just get to the playoffs and we're in a tight race. That's the main motivation. I think we can
be pretty pleased with the overall result."
The Hawks have seen contributions from players from all around and this has resulted in them coming across a lot of success. Not only was Hossa the star of the last game but Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook were among the scores during the game.
"None bigger all year," Quenneville said. "It was a huge win coming off a very disappointing loss (against Anaheim) the other night. I liked the energy we had from the outset. It was a playoff game for us. Great pace. Great hockey game."
The Hawks have played 75 games during the course of the season out of which out of which they have won 41 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime and scored 90 points. On the other hand, the Bruins have played 75 games too out of which they have
won 42 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime to score a total of 94 points.
The Bruins are well on the roads to winning the Northeast Division and after a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers they have given themselves chances of finishing in the top spot in the Eastern Conference as well.
Bruins are seven points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens in the Northeast Division and the gap looks like too much for the Canadiens to close.
"The challenge is going to be to keep our game going in the right direction and not get complacent or comfortable and hopefully head into the playoffs with confidence and a team firing on all cylinders," Coach Claude Julien said.
