First let me say that is ? is not intended to bash or insult JGR or any of thieir fans. I am merely curious at what you think will happen/should happen to JGR in regards to penalties for their cheating episode on Sat? Do you think it'll be a smack on the wrist? Severe? Frightening? Let me know what you think!

  1. Probably a warning and probation through the end of this season. Ho-hum.

  2. I'm not a big nascar fan.

But what exactly did they do that was wrong and how would that give them an edge

  3. I don't know but NASCAR did say they would make the penalties harder and harder. I am not sure if that applies separately to Nationwide and Sprint. Seems that in order to keep with what they have done in the past the fines and suspensions should be more severe regardless of which division it is in. If they are less, then that will send a messege through out the garage area whos hand is in whos pocket.

  4. i was thinking about this..what if they say that they were testing the h.p of the cars and the magnets were left in the cars by accident and were there doing the race??? because no one seen them being place in the cars so who knows when they were placed there....??

  5. possible owner points deduction, possible crew and/or car chief suspension, probation, and a nice donation to the nascar foundation. there should be no driver penalties of any sort as the "infraction" had no bearing on the race and happened post-race, after the drivers were probably long gone. even if the drivers are penalized points, no major loss there - no jgr driver is contending for the championship or anything. the owners points deduction might be the one that hurts (besides the suspensions), as the 20 was in the lead in the owners points race. i don't know by how much, but i'm guessing it will be less by wednesday.

i just hope they hurry up because carrying this mag... i mean horseshoe around until this is over is getting tiring. it doesn't fit in my pocket or anything. and when i drive i have to throw it on the floorboard so it won't mess with the radio...

    ;-)

ps. wedge, that would be considered "cruel & unusual punishment" even for nascar...

    ;-)

  6. Fine the crew chiefs maybe $5,000 which is the norm I think. , driver on probation.  Owners points docked.  No biggie probably.

  7. NASCAR has this new policy that they want to cut down on cheating. If it had been only that they failed a post race inspection, I think it would have been a light slap on the wrist (as you put it). But this incident was to try to alter NASCAR's attempt to monitor the equality between all teams. It costs a lot of money to pay those people to test the engines.

Joe Gibbs has earned a lot of money in both series. History reveals that NASCAR will take a top team and usually make an example of them to the other teams. I expect that to be just the case in this  particular event. Just my opinion.

I think the test results may not be available until next week though. Also all of the money now goes towards NASCAR's charitable organization. So they will not get this money back.

  8. It's hard to say but I bet it will be severe. If they have any type of evidence they may DQ a race result. I do think that Nascar made Toyota pay their dues last year and set them free this year; and now they are faced with trying to reel them back in. Something big is going to happen. Count on that.

  9. 150 owner points, 150 driver points, crew chief suspensions for the remainder of the year and $50,000 fine for each crew chief.

Drivers are always penalized for infractions whether they hit the track or not. It also isn't clear how long this has been going on. If it's been since the first of the year the drivers have profited from it greatly.

I am sure two low level employees will be fired also which is too bad.

  10. Force them to put Yeley back in the 18, just kidding folks don't crucify me.

  11. Points deduction, fine, crew chief suspension, you know, the usual.
