  1. DEPENDING WHERE YOU LIVE ,SOIL AND CLIMATE ARE FACTORS, FOR MODT AREAS YOU NEED NOT DIG THEM UP REMOVE BROWN AND WAIT TILL NEXT SPRING THEY'LL BE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE YEAR BEFORE. AS FOR STORING BULBS BAGGIES SAWDUST SARK PLCE -YOU DONT WANT THEM TO DRY OUT.

  2. You don't need to pull them up..just make sure you feed them.  You may have to separate them every few years.

  3. Whether you leave your tulips in the ground, or dig them up and store them, partly depends on your soil type as well as your location.

For most of us, it's fine to leave them in the ground,  if the bulbs won't be disturbed, dug into etc.   If you have a very wet soil, sometimes they can rot, so lifting and drying is helpful.  In this instance you can plant them late in the fall,  as they don't need the rooting time that bulbs such as daffodills need, which will start rooting from late August - northern hemisphere.  In the north I plant Tulips from November, when there is no ground freezing.

If you life them, store them somewhere dry, where they won't get eaten by animals, including rodents and squirrels.  You can use netted bags,  perhaps with some dry sawdust.

If you have a wet soil, it can be helpful to plant them with some gritty sand underneath the bulb, as this helps drainage somewhat.

Hope this helps.  Good luck!  Rob

  4. I don't know where you live but here in the south we replant in the spring and we store the bulbs in the refrigerator. If you live far enough up north you may can just leave them and let them come up in the spring. We store them in the refrigerator to be sure they get enough chill hours or they will not bloom. You have to let them dry a little them pack them in sawdust in like a onion sack toss them in.
