Tullius to strike hat-trick at expense of Dance And Dance in Ian And Kate Hall Macmillan Ganton Stakes
Tullius is producing positive results for his new yard this season. After two back-to-back wins, he is in good position to outsmart Dance And Dance and seize the top place in the Ian And Kate Hall Macmillan Ganton Stakes (Listed Race), taking place at York
on Saturday, June 16th.
The class 1 event is scheduled to get underway at 15:45 (GMT). Besides the aforementioned pair, the entries are Doncaster Rover, Rockinante, Saamidd and Ptolemaic. The ultimate champion will walk away with a handsome cash prize worth £19,536.
Tullius, who was not impressive last year, has been maintaining the good standards since the start of this season. He started his 2012 campaign with an excellent effort at Newmarket, where he sealed the first place by ¾ a length in the Makfi Suffolk Stakes
(Handicap).
After fascinating everyone at Newmarket, the four-year-old did not relax and continued his good run, when sent at Windsor in mid May. On soft surface, Andrew Balding’s charge upset the 7-4 favourite, Skilful, by one and a quarter lengths to bag the winning
prize in the class 1 Sky Bet Stakes.
The conditions are almost similar and therefore, Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds VI’s gelding has an obvious chance of replicating what he did at Windsor.
Dance And Dance will be the only threat to Tullius. Victories seem to have dried up for the six-year-old, but his ability to outpace even the best in business cannot be ignored.
After making a couple of rough rides early in the season, Ed Vaughan’s trainee regained his form by demonstrating an excellent performance at Epsom. On the first of June, he secured the runner-up place in the Group 3 Investec Diomed Stakes.
After such a decent act, Mohammed Rashid’s gelding is raring to go, but things are slightly different this time. The conditions are more testing than at Epsom. The rest of the line-up is likely to make an impression against the top pair.
A nail-biting battle between Dance And Dance and Tullius is on the cards. The latter gets our vote, because he is in better shape these days. We wish the best of luck to all runners.
