Tulsa Shock lose 13th Straight; Get humbled 85-65 by Indiana Fever - WNBA Recap
On Friday night, Indiana Fever beat the slumping Tulsa Shock 85-65 at BOK Center, handing them their franchise record-tying 13th consecutive defeat. It was the fifth consecutive victory for Fever, who are heading the Eastern Conference
so far this season with a 15-6 record.
Jessica Davenport came off the bench with a game-high 17 points, shooting 7 for 11 from the field, and four rebounds in the win. Tamika Catchings had 15 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks while Shavonte Zellous ended
with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals for Indiana.
Zellous said of their combined team effort, "Every game (the bench) is getting better at sharing the ball and playing great defence.
Katie Douglas added 11 points while Erin Phillips tallied 10 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists for Fever, who have won seven of their previous 10 games.
Only two Tulsa players reached double figures on the night. Tiffany Jackson punctuated 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds, dished out three assists, stole the ball twice and blocked one shot in the losing effort. Jennifer Lacy
also scored 12 points, shooting 6 for 10 from the floor, and grabbed eight boards for Shock.
Indiana shot 51.8 percent (29 for 56) from the field and 80 percent (20-25) from free throw line, limiting Tulsa to just 38.1 percent (24 for 63) from the floor and 75 percent (12 for 16) from the line. Fever committed 13 turnovers
while Tulsa committed 20. The performance of guards Ivory Latta and Andrea Riley was not up to the mark as they committed 12 of Tulsa’s overall 20 turnovers and in return, they dished out just three assists.
Indiana held a ten-point lead, 22-12, at the end of first quarter and pushed it to 13 points, 42-29, at halftime. Fever really turned up the heat in the third quarter and outscored Tulsa 27-14, stretching their lead to 26 points,
69-43, heading into the final period. Shock did not get any closer than 20 points in the fourth quarter as Indiana and cruised to an easy win.
