Tulum or Playa Del Carmen?

Hi,

I am thinking about a week trip with my girl in late february to Tulum or Playa Del Carmen. I am looking for a good mix of beautiful beaches and decent nightlife.

am hoping to get a basic beach bungalow for like 60 or 70 a night. Is this unrealistic for either blace? And I understand the places can get really crowded. Is there a specific location in either where the beach would be less crowded? North or South? And are there alot of people there in late February? Any other opinions or recommendations are welcome!

You've got dueling requirements -- active nightlife yet remote/isolated?

I recommend PDC for nightlife but if you want more isolation (but no nightlife) then I recommend Akumal which is 30-minutes south of PDC.

Playa del Carmen has everything you will want or need.  5th Avenue is wonderful for shopping and nightlife.  Mambo Cafe is a wonderful club in Playa and there are many others.  You are close to the ferry and can go over and spend the day in Cozumel.  There is a place over there called Sanchos.....on a wonderful, secluded beach....has a pool...a restaurant....beach chairs....and they deliver your drinks to you.  Wonderful place to hang out for the day.  Stick with Playa.....it is the best.

y not both??? in playa u will finf decent night life not as in tulum, but tulum has more beautiful beaches and less crowded.

anyways this 2 places r around 30 mins away one of the other and its really easy 2 go from one 2 the othes y juss have 2 take a van (public transportation) that will cost less than 2 usd.

i recomend u 2 stay in playa and move 2 tulum whenever u want.
