Tumble dryer motor lost starting torque what are the most likely reasons?

278volts across condenser drum will revolve if given gentle push otherwise it sits buzzing at me

  1. could be one of three, Condenser failed starting winding failed or the electronic switch that activates the starting winding is open circuited


  2. If you mean the motor is running but the barrel isn't moving, here are my top 2 guesses.:

    1 - the drive belt slipped out of place or is broken.

    2 - the "drive belt tensioner" broke and needs to be replaced.  This is a springy thing that holds the drive belt wheels against the drum.

    It's not hard to replace either one of them.
