i have been working on my roundoff tuck for 2 years.. i finally mastered it today by myself.. but i was at my tumbling class and did in on tumbling floor.. today i was thinking about doing it for my tumbling pass at cheering tryouts but im not sure because i have to do it on hard gym floor.. i know i can do my backhandspring series on gym floor but im not sure about the tuck.

what do you think?

  1. i think you should play it safe because you want to be on the cheer squad, dont you? and if you hurt your self trying something you wouldnt be able to be on the squad...

  2. if you are confident in it then try it! for my school, attempting something gets you extra points because it shows that you are working on it and willing to at least try. it would give you an advantage over the people who do backhandspring series even if you dont land the tuck. however, if you dont think that you can land SAFELY (put your hands down, etc.) if not stick it, then play it safe. maybe ask if you can do it with a spot!

  3. if u say u have mastered it then i dont see any problem with going ahead and trying it on hard ground, the only difference will be in the jerk that u get in landing and the extra push that u will have while pushing off from round-off. but as u have written that u mastered it only today, then i guess u should do it perfectly on tumbling floor for a couple of days, or a few more times till the movement becomes second nature, then there will be no problem....

be careful....best of luck for ur tryouts!!!

  4. well try it with a coach spotting you on the gym floor. if your tuck is good and you land okay do the tuck. but i would do the series at tryouts cause its better to do something your comftorable with. good luck at tryouts! =]
