  2. Here's how I recommend tuning a guitar.

If you want to do the 5th fret thing

    E 5th fret for A

    A 5th fret for D

    D 5th fret for G

    G 4th fret for B

    B 5th fret for e

  3. It is like this

    1. Place finger on the 5th fret on the 6th string, and tune to the open 5th string until they sound the same.

    2. Place finger on the 5th fret on the 5th string, and tune to the open 4th string until they sound the same.

    3. Place finger on the 5th fret on the 4th string, and tune to the open 3th string until they sound the same.

    4. Place finger on the 4th fret on the 3rd string and tune to the open 2nd string until they sound the same.

    5. Place finger on the 5th fret on the 2nd string, and tune to the open 1st string until they sound the same.

And that should be it. (The 3rd string is the one where it get weird.)
