Question:

Tuning an Ibanez RG into Open C (CGCGCE)?

I've been trying to get my RG into Open C. However my Floyd Rose trem is having none of it, because one end quite high and the other....low. Anyone have any ideas or atleast know if it's possible or not?

Im using D'Addario strings 12-54 gauge. Thanks.

  1. It can be done but it will take some serious tweaking and an awfully good set up, then if things weren't bad enough - if you decide to retune it to standard again your gonna have just as much trouble doing that.  (have a pro do it if you have one available)

I suggest having a stop tailpiece guitar (or string thru) for varied tunings.

  2. I hope you don't mind scrapping that guitar, because alternate tunings like that seriousl damage the neck.  If you have string locks, make sure you use them.  Like I said, the floyd rose was made for standard tuning, so don't mess with it or it will mess with you.
