Just purchased an acoustic guitar. I need some easy steps on how to tune the guitar without using an electric tuning machine or tuning fork?

  1. One of these numerous sites should be helpful to you.

  2. Well i know this method to make sure it is tuned but i dont know how to tune it without the guitar tuner thingy!

put your finger on the top chord on the 5th fret and turn the nob that tightens and loosins the chord until it sounds like the chord directly underneith it. next put your finger on the chord fifth from the bottem on the 5th fret and do the same thing as before. and do that for the chord underneith it. but then for the next chord hold down on the 4th fret instead of the 5th fret and turn the nob until it matches the chord underneith it.  and i think on the last chord you go back to holding down the 5th fret but i dont remember for the last one

  3. What bloopercrew wrote is the correct way to tune a guitar, but how do you get the bass E string tuned to true E?  You should invest in a tuning fork at least.  Just bang 'em on your leg or something, then hold the ball (opposite side of the fork) and your guitar will give you a nice E note.  Without one or an electric tuner (the best!)  there are some possibilities.  Do you have a little casio organ?  You can get an E note from that.  Got a harmonica in the key of E?  Probably not.  I have been playing for a long time, and I can get it almost perfect by ear, but it's still not close enough to play with other people and still have everybody be in tune (of course, if you're playing with others you'd tune to each other.  Got a friend with a casio or a piano or any kind of musical instrument?  They can give you the note over the phone.  Then you're in business.  Next time you get your guitar tuned properly, see if there's anything in your house you can "ping" for an E.  Maybe moms crystal glasses give off an E when "pinged".  Or a lamp.  Or anything.  Then you will never be unable to tune your guitar "in key."  If your just playing by yourself, then you could just tune it right, but not in the right key.  If you start too high though, you'll pop that high E string when you tune it last.  They snap pretty easy.  Good Luck!

  4. from left, it's mi la re so ti mi,

turn it clockwise to tighten it or to higher the pitch

and the other way around for loosening it or to lower the pitch

FOR THE BASIS, as the previous answerer has said,

fourth frets...with the first 4 strings, and the last string

and the fifth fret for the fifth string

or if you want a more accurate pitch of your guitar, buy a guitar tuner...it's cheap anyway
