Tunisia wins African Olympic Qualification tournament – Volleyball news
Tunisia’s men’s national volleyball team recently qualified to be a part of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Tunisian squad earned themselves the ticket into the Olympic Games by bagging the men's African Olympic Qualification tournament. The team that the Tunisians were competing against was that of Cameroon.
The final match of the tournament was being hosted by Cameroon in Yaoundé. The venue of the contest was the Multipurpose Sports Complex. The total number of spectators that came to watch the clash between the two African teams was above 4,000 and they got
their tickets worth as both the teams put on a good show that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The competition between the two sides was stretched for four long and gruelling sets that ended with declaring Tunisia as the winner and the home team as the runners’ up.
Despite the fact that Cameroon lost the match, they did not go down without putting up a good fight. By the time that Tunisia was celebrating its entry into the Olympic Games, the scoreboard showed the following final set scores, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 and
25-21. It took the Tunisian side a total of one hour and 55 minutes to seal the deal on the match.
By the time that the tournament had ended, the Tunisians had put up an impressive show by bagging themselves a total of four wins while incurring no loss at all.
The first set of the final match saw the Cameroon take the lead early on. The Tunisians tried hard to overtake the home team but they could not close in the gap as the Cameroon kept speeding on ahead. As a result, the home team was able to bag the first
set of the game at 25-21.
The second set of the game saw the Tunisians rally together and bring more energy to the court that enabled them to challenge their opponents significantly and make the match reach a tie. The momentum generated by winning the second set of the game got the
Tunisians to secure themselves the third as well as the fourth sets.
