Turallure coming out of two consecutive wins, prepares for the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland
The 4-year-old Charles Lopresti trained colt, Turallure is expected to run in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile at Churchill Downs on 5 November, 2011. The son of Wando continued his preparations for the big race at the Keeneland training track.
Out of Personal Allure by Wekiva Springs, Turallure turned in a workout of five furlongs on the Keeneland grass under jockey Julien Leparoux as the pair covered the distance in 1 minute and 1 4/5 seconds on 13 October, 2011.
Turallure worked with the rail up on his own, setting fractions of 12 2/5 seconds, 25 seconds for the quarter mile and 50 seconds for the half a mile journey ending up at six furlongs in 1 minute and 14.20 seconds.
The colt ran over firm course with slight moisture on it, and the work out made trainer Charles Lopresti happy, because that is what he wanted from his in-form runner.
Donna Arnold owned, Turallure is coming off a huge win in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile, where he defeated the favourite Courageous Cat, who finished just behind Turallure in second place with Right One finishing third a few lengths back.
The race was held at Woodbine racecourse on 18 September, 2011, under jockey J Leparoux, and the pair completed the distance of 1 mile in 1 minute and 34.92 seconds on grass.
The Woodbine Mile was Turallure’s second win in a row and prior to the $ 1million event, Turallure was coming off a win in the Grade 2 Bernard Baruch.
On 26 August, 2011, under his lucky rider Julien Leparoux, Turallure downed the likes of Get Stormy and Baryshnikov to win the 1 1/8 mile event over grass, with the winning time of 1 minute and 48.75 seconds.
Julien Leparoux has ridden Turallure thrice and he has guided the colt to victory in all three occasions. Earlier this year, Turallure was guided to victory by Julien Leparoux in the Opening Verse Stakes at Churchill Downs on 17 June.
Tajaaweed got pummeled by Turallure and he covered the 1 1/16 miles over turf in 1 minute and 40.41 seconds.
