I have a TCI TH 350 Street Fighter with a 10" B&M converter behind a 435 small block dyno'ed at 625 horse that I just put all together. I took it out around town for two hours with no problems. Then I did a 0 to 130 mph hard run and did a normal turn around not shifing out of drive. When I accelerated again the trans would not shift out of 1 st gear. Trans fluid OK and good color. Linkage fine and shifts through all detents. Kick down cable adjusted properly and no kinks in coolant lines. What could cause this?

  1. Torque converter doesn't control shifting. Governor gear is possible. TV cable or vac mod would still shift but at high RPM. Search for governor gear online to see what to look for and how to remove.

  2. Your torque converter sound like it went out
