  1. Turbo jam is a really good cardio workout. The only difference between a treadmill and turbo jam is that when youre doing turbo jam, its not as boring. And you dont tend to gain as much muscle as you would running. However, I believe turbo jam burns calories quicker than treadmill. I think in a half hour of turbo jam you lose like, 100 calories more than you would on the treadmill, but im not entirely sure

  2. Turbo Jam works, but you have to put the work in to it. The suggested schedule for beginners has you working out 20-60 minutes a day, five days a week. The good news is that the workouts are actually fun, so it doesn't feel like a chore (most days).

I've been using Turbo Jam for almost two months, with a ten-day break while I was on a camping road trip, and with some cheating as far a diet goes. (Sometimes a girl just needs ice cream.) But even though I haven't been following the plan as strictly as I should, I've lost 2" off my chest, 1.5" off my waist, 2.5" off my hips and 1.5" off my thighs. (I don't own a scale, so I can't tell you how much weight I've lost.)

It's pretty much impossible to say how long it will take for you to lose 60 pounds since there are so many things that can affect weight loss. Some people shed pounds really easily, and some have to work a lot harder to see results. Still, most of the fitness/nutrition resources I've seen suggest losing 1-2 pounds a week, which would mean 7.5-15 months to lose 60 pounds. That can seem like a really long time, but it's important if you want to be able to keep the weight off. Besides, even if it takes twice that long to lose the weight you want, it's better than doing nothing at all.

The biggest problem with losing weight a little at a time is that the changes to you body happen so gradually that you many not even notice them. There are a couple of things that I've found really help me. Before I started working out, I took measurements of various parts of my body and wrote them down. After a month, I measured again and was pleasantly surprised to find that I'd actually lost inches. I also took digital photos of myself at the start and after one month (and will be taking another set when I've hit the two-month mark). I've found this to be a huge motivator because before I took the second set of pictures I didn't think my body shape had changed at all. It's not like I went from tubby to supermodel in 30 days or anything, but it was still nice to see visual evidence.

A couple of tips about the photos:

    - take a set of three; front, back and side

    - try to keep the photos as consistent as possible (same distance from the camera, in the same part of the house, etc.) to make it easier to accurately see changes

    - wear something like a bathing suit, or shorts and a sports bra. If you wear normal clothes, it's going to cover up a lot of what you're trying to see

    Good luck reaching your goal!
