Turbulent Descent to trouble her opponents in Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Turbulent Descent is a phenomenal filly, coming off an outstanding victory at Hollywood Park. Her confidence would be at a high after bagging the success, and she holds an obvious chance of putting up an equally good show in the
Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes, to be held on Saratoga’s dirt on Friday, August 24th.
If we look at the recent stats, It´s Tricky seems to be the strongest runner in the line-up. But, Kiaran McLaughlin’s charge is doubtful in today’s big meeting, as she is an intended runner in Sunday’s Personal Ensign Stakes. If It´s Tricky comes out today,
she will surely be the biggest threat to Turbulent Descent.
The 7-furlong mega event has attracted seven entries. On Saratoga’s fast track, the runners will pursue a purse worth $500,000.
Despite the fact that all the participants have plenty of fire power, Turbulent Descent will be very hard to beat. After making a below par effort at the start of this year, the 4-year-old went on a long vacation. She returned to action with a massive bang,
when displaying an excellent show in the Desert Stormer Handicap in June.
Owned by Mrs John Magnier & Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith, the filly ran brilliantly to ensure the first rank by one and a quarter lengths. The daughter of Congrats has won three Grade 1 events so far, and another big win is likely today.
Out of others, Nicole H looks to be the strongest one. Luck is not on her side these days, but she has been performing consistently since the outset of this season. The David Fawkes-trained narrowly missed the crown on previous two occasions. An extra effort
is required to produce a better result this time.
Derwin’s Star lost her rhythm after winning the Grade 3 Bed O' Roses Handicap at Belmont Park, and finished seventh last time out. Steven B. Klesaris’ trainee would be short of confidence after such an embarrassing defeat.
With Turbulent Descent in the crew, the punters should not look elsewhere for the winner. She is more than capable of trouncing even the likes of It’s Tricky and Nicole H. We wish the best of luck to all the runners.
