Turkey, is it safe...?

My friend have been talking about that we should go to Turkey next year (Icmeler I think it was) but I've heard a lot of scary things about the country. I mentioned it to some other friends and they were like "good luck, two 19 year old girls alone in Turkey will never come back" Well it kind of scared me a little. Anyone got some experiences to share? Or is it like my other friends said? The friend I might be going with has been there twice before, but with her parents. (A guy got her drunk and had s*x with her the last time, but she didn't really mind I guess...)

    see you in Türkiye...

  3. its as safe as any other place in the world. i have been 4 times and never had a problem.yes the men will probably try and chat you up,just politely say no and they will leave you alone

  4. JUst come back from Turkey, you will get chatted up they are famous  for it just dont go off alone with a turk. They tried chatting my 14 year up every where we went, but i guess its like that anywhere. Its a lovely country . Go and enjoy!

  5. oh such a fake question

(A guy got her drunk and had s*x with her the last time, but she didn't really mind I guess...)  yeah yeah right!!!!!

why  did you wanna come to turkey in the first place than if you were so scared.

  6. hope its safe am going there next week

  7. turkey is really very safe.

    this is true.

    you are believe me..

  8. Yes it is ,the crime rate in Turkey has decreased into really low levels......Now has one of the lowest in Europe.

It is safer than Germany or Italy...

    Edit to fidget:

Living in a place of the supposed paradises of Brit tourists,I can surely assure you that these are not raping cases...Brit girls have insuranse in case of raping and they are making this for money. In every doctor's examination there were no rape-signs.....suspicious isnt it?

  9. I backpacked alone through Turkey and Syria for one-and-a-half months a few years ago -- spent alot of my time in Istanbul. They looooove blonde, foreign young women there. You WILL get chatted up everywhere, but what you must realize is that yes, the men are looking to sleep with you, but many are are ALSO looking for help in getting visas to leave Turkey for America or the EU.

I always felt safe traveling by myself. Turkey does have many poor areas but it is not a third world country - the cities are all quite modern, similar to other Meditteranean countries like Italy or Greece. People are extremely hospitable and nice if you are nice. Please dress conservatively, if you dress in skimpy clothes people will not respect you, and they may mistake you for a "Natasha," a Russian prostitute.

  10. God i hate stuped people

Any way i live in turkey (im half Irish half turkish)

1-Turkey has great reletionships with russia and USA so even if WW3 comes it will probably be neutral and if not turkey is strong enouf to keep russia back (i dontmmean the turkish army is stronger but it is still the 2cn largest and 4th

best trained 7th most advanced nation in NATO so its all good and in anycase i belive some nations (france greece england armenia italy tried to invaded at its weakist and still hode not XD)

anyway you chode go to france and never comeback rates of abuse rape kidnaping is lower in turkey than most eu nations (france and britan to) war is out of the question and its not like someone whode not get you drunk is US or Uk or where you from  and have s*x its not the pure turkish ability to seduce women with alcohal anyway turkey is one of the best countrys to visset (low or high bugget for 10 pounds you can have 3 cores meal maybe not the most fancy but traditional turkish food) any way totaly safe as anywhere else if you go to nearly any major city you can be more exposed as much as you can be in any eu nation (but in the far east side you maybe whode like to limit your self abit (dont mean cover your head just like maybe dont where a mini skirt etc. anyway you wont go there its not wort seeing and very far from every major teuristic spot (i mean like 24 hours by bouse) so thats it its a rumer abaut not coming back (one of the safest place for women and women (not saying safest) so no problem

3-are wiev on america is like rest of europe (not every one) and anyway nobady cares if your american as long as your not george bush)XD

If you come enjoy your stay

  11. HAHAHA! why would you want to even consider that place? depending on this Russia Georgia thing and how world war 3 starts coming along, Turkey might be a part of Russia next year. you have to be careful of the people there as well. some are very good and nice and some see you as an infidel and would love to broadcast your beheading on the internet. :-(

why don't you just reconsider and go to a better part of Europe or try the Bahamas or the Caribbean.

  12. Earth , is it safe ?

  13. I live in Turkey and have never had any problems. However I offer a cautionary tale:

Last year my 18 year-old niece and her friend visited me here. They met a group of other visiting young people (some of whom I knew and trusted and who had been here many times over the years).

In a group of girls and boys, in a quiet resort that I know well, I thought it was appropriate to "let her off the leash".

I went home before they did.

When they all left the cafe together (about 8 young people, male and female) they were followed. Luckily, other regulars from the cafe saw what was happening, went in pursuit and saw off the offenders. No harm was done but it was a chastening experience for us all.

Turkey is not especially dangerous but nowhere is completely safe.

In neighbouring Greece, there were 39 cases of rape of British citizens last year, more than anywhere else in Europe (including Turkey).

  14. I think that is more of a propaganda than anything else. I have been in Turkey and it was perfectly safe and people were extremely friendly.

  15. Yes... At least some years ago...

My parents went to Turkey 12 years ago and they love it, and they hadn't problems with safety!

  16. yes its delicious! completely safe if cooked thoroughly!
