Turkey and India set to host Beach Volleyball events
The exciting sport of Beach Volleyball has established huge fan following all over the world. The game has great history and it has flourished immensely over the past years. It has been played in the most beautiful cities, and exotic beaches have hosted
the campaigns. There has been enough activity in the month of September but still some of the events are in offing such as European Men’s Beach Volleyball Continental Cup, Turkey and Chennai Challenger Beach Volleyball Championship, India. The Beach Volleyball
fans are on top of their toes to witness the great performance of beach duos in these two ventures.
European Men’s Beach Volleyball Continental Cup, Turkey
It has been a good year for Turkey as it hosted the mega event of the SWATCH FIVB Junior World Championship last week. The most popular and charming tourist destination located on the Mediterranean Sea, Alanya hosted the international U-19 double gender
event on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Calendar and ended on a good note. Once again the city of Alanya is at the verge of hosting another campaign of European Beach Volleyball Continental Cup this weekend.
Mr Saim Kanli, the Sport Director of Turkish Municipality took the pleasure to greet all participants of the event on behalf of Mayor Hasan Sipahioglu on 23rd September, 2010. The technical meeting for the arrangements of tournament was held last
night at the Elysee Hotel. The European Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will complete the sub-zonal phase here and winners will be promoted to the next phase. The qualification round will be attended by four countries namely Austria, Finland, Slovakia and
Turkey.
The players from host-country will also embark on the opportunity. The Turkish pairs have undergone extensive practice and training during the various matches they played in the running year. The star players in men’s section, Selcuk Sekerci and Volkan Gogtepe
are enjoying a splendid form. They are confident to deliver a solid performance and raise the level and popularity of Beach Volleyball in Turkey. The duo targets to achieve a qualification in the next phase of Continental Cup. Anyhow, the time will tell the
best team out of four contenders. The other participants of the tournament also aspire to be the next headline for their incredible play.
Chennai Challenger Beach Volleyball Championship, India
The Sub-continental country India is also hosting a Beach Volleyball tournament in Chennai. The FIVB BNSL Chennai Challenger Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled to start on Monday, 27th September, 2010. It is the second time that a double-gender
Beach Volleyball tournament is being hosted by India. In July, 2008 India hosted the same event, while Thailand and Brazil achieved successes in women and men’s categories respectively.
This time around, the tournament will be attended by 66 teams (32 men's and 24 women's) in both genders. The competitions will be staged at the Marian and Eliots Beaches on the eastern coast of the country. Indian teams will be performing in both categories.
Being the host of this competition, the native pairs will surely have an edge over the other competitors.
The BNSL Chennai Challenger Beach Volleyball Championship is a perfect opportunity for underdog pairs, who are not on the world ranking or do not have sufficient entry points. They will be playing the qualification matches on Monday. The prize money of $70,
000 is the major attraction for teams to battle in the competition.
The event is just around the corner and participating teams are in an active mode to polish and sharpen their skills. Since India has some cultural differences, and it is likely that the women’s competitions will suffer some conditions. In the past, some
of the events only featured men’s game.
