The final day of the European qualifier of the 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship – Men took place on April 15 with three matches being held in the Turkish city of Ankara.
The venue of the contest was the Baskent sports hall. The two teams that played against each other in order to qualify for the final round of the championship were Germany as well as the home squad of Turkey.
The match between the two sides remained challenging all through and kept the spectators on the edge of their seats during its entire duration. Both the teams fought hard and took the match to five thrilling sets at the end of which the home team was able
to secure a win. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 25-16, 16-25, 24-26, 25-16 and 20-18.
The recent win has enabled the Turkish squad to advance to the final round of the competition that is set to take place in August of this year. The qualification for Turkey into the final round has been direct as the home team had not lost even a single
match in the entire tournament.
The opening set of the match saw Turkey dominate by taking an early lead and keeping their rivals at a distance all through. Once the Turkish squad had the lead, they did not give up the advantage and played forcefully until the end of the first frame at
25-16.
The second set of the match swung in favour of the German squad as they were able to get themselves a lead at the coming of the first technical time out at 8-5.
Not only that, the Germans were able to stretch their advantage till 16-11. After that point, it was not a tough job for the Germans to bag themselves the second frame of the game at 25-16.
With the match even, the score remained close in the third frame which saw a couple of lead changes and neck to neck competition. However, it was the German squad that moved in to secure a win at 26-24.
