The 49-year-old trainer has expressed confidence ahead of the Crescent-Stars’ 2014 World Cup qualifier game against the Oranje, and has stressed that Louis van Gaal’s less time at helm will be a advantage for his side.
Abdullah Avci, Turkey national football team head coach, has urged his troops to put in their 100 percent in their upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifier game against Netherlands if they are to achieve a good result.
The 49-year-old, who took the reins of Ay Yıldızlılar in 2011, has revealed that his aim is to guide his side to a top place finish in the group.
“We are embarking on a new era, the squads average age is 25, our most experienced player is Emre Belözoğlu. From the day I took over as manager our aim was always to finish the group in first position. Since 1996 we have only been able to qualify for European
Championships and the World Cup through the play-off's. It's time for us to raise the bar”, Avci was quoted as saying to Turkish-football.com.
The Turkish trainer went on to admit that his side should keep their feet on the ground whether they lose or win against the Flying Dutchmen.
“It's not a one match process, this is a campaign, one we are fully focused, motivated and determined to do well in”, Avci added.

“Louis Van Gaal hasn't had long to implement his system yet, which is a slight advantage for us, we are fully prepared and are hoping for a good game”, Avci concluded.
