Turkey national coach Guus Hiddink unlikely to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 as Carlo Ancelotti nears exit
It seems Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will not be able to lure Turkey coach Guus Hiddink to Stamford Bridge again. It is understood that the Russian billionaire is looking for a replacement for current Blues coach Carlo Ancelotti and was hoping to bring
in Hiddink once again.
The Dutch manager spent about three months in charge at the London side in 2009 after Abramovich sacked Luiz Felipe Scolari mid-season. During his short time at Stamford Bridge, Hiddink managed to pick up the pieces and led the Blues to the FA Cup.
During that time, Hiddink was managing the Russian national side but agreed to take over Chelsea because of his acquaintance with Abramovich. It does not seem he will be able to do the same once again, since he is now managing the Turkey national side.
Abramovich is considering making an offer to the manager but has not yet made an official move. The Turkish Football Federation however, has already made it clear they will not permit Hiddink to manage a club while he was in charge of the national side,
to ward off future interest.
A senior Turkey national team spokesperson, Turker Tozar said that the Turkish Football Federation President Mahmut Ozgener would not be willing to let Hiddink manage a club simultaneously. He revealed they had had to turn down an approach by Ajax recently.
Tozar said while speaking to reporters, “There is a specific clause and our president would look coldly at any attempt to change that. We understand that people like Roman Abramovich have him in mind but if he made an offer to us it would be refused.”
Tozar was confident Hiddink would honour his contract to the Turkey national side, even if he received a lucrative offer from the English Premier League defending champions. He revealed everyone had their hopes pinned on Hiddink taking Turkey to the World
Cup finals in 2014.
He continued, “If you look at Guus Hiddink's career he has always fulfilled his contract and he has also told us that Turkey could be his last stop as a coach. We would like him to take us to the 2014 World Cup finals.”
Cees van Nieuwenhuizen, Hiddink’s agent confirmed Tozar’s statement, claiming it was highly unlikely that his client would return to Chelsea while he was managing the Turkish national side. He maintained Hiddink would not be joining Chelsea since he would
not be breaking his current contract.
Nieuwenhuizen said, “Guus has never broken a contract in his life and Roman Abramovich understands that. He is under contract with Turkey for their Euro 2012 campaign and it looks as though they will qualify for the play-offs.”
Hiddink took over the Turkish national side in the summer of 2010 after his contract with the Russian team expired. The team has visibly improved under his management, in their last five friendly matches they have gone on to win three, losing the remaining
two.
