Guus Hiddink, the 64-year-old Turkey national side manager, revealed he would consider making a move back to English Premier League side Chelsea if the London club made a solid offer.
Hiddink served as caretaker manager for the Blues in the 2008-2009 season after their manager Luiz http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felipe-c13510 Scolari was sacked mid-season.
The Dutch manager had just three months in charge at Stamford Bridge, but still managed to lead them to the FA Cup trophy.
He took an out of form Chelsea squad and transformed them completely, which has made him one of the top contenders for the manager’s position in the wake of the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager was sacked after his second season at the club, after he failed to lead the Blues to any silverware this season.
The fact that Ancelotti had delivered the English Premier League crown and the FA Cup trophy in his first season at the Bridge was not enough to extend his stay.
The management at the London club did not wait long to sack the former AC Milan manager, giving him the news just moments after the final game of the season.
Since then the rumour mill has been abuzz with possible replacements for Ancelotti, the likes of Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Harry Redknapp, Andres Villas Boas and Marco van Basten have been linked with the job.
However, with most of the managers ruling themselves out from the possibility of taking over the manager’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Chelsea, just a few remain.
Hiddink had previously claimed that he would not consider a return to the London club since he intended to honour his contract with the Turkey national side.
He seems to have reconsidered the prospect of another shot as Chelsea manager, claiming he would think about it if the Blues made a concrete offer.
Hiddink said in an interview:
“If there was a concrete offer, then I would think about it.
There's nothing concrete. You cannot go into all kind of speculation or rumours because there's nothing concrete. The moment things are concrete, I'll go to where I have to be, direct.
First, get this game done next Friday, a difficult game, you know. Then we'll see.”
The Dutch manager refused to commit himself to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager’s job, insisting he was completely focused on leading the Turkish national team to success in the upcoming tournament.
Turkey take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Azerbaijan-c2845.
It has been rumoured that Hiddink will be sacked from the Turkey job if he fails to secure a qualification for the Euro 2012, which will then leave him free for the Chelsea job.
