match as we now can play without pressure. This win will give my team some confidence as we have a lot of young players who compete for the first time at such an important tournament. I wish for Austria that this team will come back very fast.”
The start of the first set of the game saw both the teams battle hard against each other with no team letting the other move ahead for much long. However, as the game progressed, the Turkish side was able to gain pace and left the Austrians behind. The lead
stayed with the Turkish till they had reached a set close at 25-21.
The second set of the match was a tough one for the Austrians as they were visibly seen to struggle with their game. The player that was able to keep up the challenge from the Austrian side was Philipp Schneider as he scored eight points in the set. However,
it was only a matter of time before the Turkish could bag another set at 25-22.
The loss of the first two sets of the game got the Austrians playing better in the third set. The match remained tight between the two teams at the beginning but the Austrians were able to get the lead at 14-10. This was mainly due to the efforts of the
Austrian captain Daniel Gavan and the team’s setter Oliver Binder. Despite the repeated efforts of the Austrian attackers to pick up pace by scoring more points, the Turkish prevailed in blocking their rival’s attack attempts successfully. As a result, it
was the Turkish side that was able to secure the third set of the game at 25-20.
