Turkish FA warn Chelsea to expect action if they appoint Guus Hiddink as manager
Just as English Premier League giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 looked close to signing Guus Hiddink as their manager, the Turkish FA has intervened, claiming they could take action against the London club.
Hiddink is currently contracted to the Turkey national team but that has not stopped Chelsea from making the Dutch manager offers.
The Blues are desperate to land a manager soon, having sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season for not being able to deliver any silverware.
They were originally linked with the likes of Jose Mourinho, Andres Villas Boas, Marco van Basten, Harry Redknapp and Pep Guardiola.
However, most of the manager’s ruled themselves out for the Chelsea manager’s position, leaving just Hiddink, Mark Hughes and Marco van Basten.
It was revealed Hiddink was the favourite for the position for the manager, while Hughes and Van Basten were being considered for the sports director’s position.
The Turkish FA previously released statements hinting that they would permit Hiddink to leave if the English Premier League outfit agreed to pay the compensation fee.
The fee was said to be £4 million and it was understood the Blues would make an official offer for Hiddink in upcoming days.
However, they seem to have changed their mind and now some determined to retain the services of the Dutchman.
The head of the Turkish FA, Mahmut Özgener, said while speaking to reporters:
“Chelsea has a past record for signing players who are under contract, and if the same thing happens, we will make a file of the payments we made to Hiddink and we will go to FIFA.”
Hiddink had not given a clear answer to the possibility of him making a return to Stamford Bridge, but had said he would consider the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 if a concrete offer was made.
The Turkish FA spokesperson felt Hiddink had not been honest with him regarding his decision about his future.
He continued:
“After the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charity-c38784 match.' But after that I learnt he said different things to the players. He should have told me what he told the players.”
Özgener urged Hiddink to honour his contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 national side, he said:
“You cannot come to Turkey and then leave when you want.”
Hiddink previously managed Chelsea as caretaker manager in the 2008-2009 season after Luiz http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felipe-c13510 Scolari was sacked.
In his three months at the London club, Hiddink led Chelsea out of slump and to a FA Cup trophy, thus ending the season on a high note.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will sign the Dutch manager on a more permanent basis and if they will face action from FIFA upon doing so.
