Turkish Fenerbahce preparing for 2010 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship
Fenerbahce's women’s volleyball club from Turkey has had good fortune this year, as they qualified for the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship 2010. The outstanding women’s club from Istanbul qualified for the tournament as a wildcard entry.
They played at the CEV Champions League and cropped out good results. They finished in the second position after showing a spectacular game, which enabled them to make their first appearance at the Club World Championship. They couldn’t climb up to the top spot, as the Italian club, Bergamo, came in their way and pushed Fenerbahce behind.
Fenerbahce has a fair chance to take full advantage of this perfect opportunity and prove their mettle. The Turkish squad has been allotted a slot in the Pool ‘A’ of Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar.
They will open the tournament by taking on Brazil’s Sollys Osasco on 16th December. Later on, they will face resilient rivals Italian Bergamo. Fenerbahce will also play against Thailand’s Federbrau.
The Turkish team is full of ambition to prove to be a better team and grab success at the tournament. However, they have to dismiss strong contenders, in order to fulfill their dream of playing in the final round.
The head coach of Fenerbahce, Roberto Guimaraes, has prepared the team for tough combats. Most recently, the team spent enough time in practice and training under the supervision of the head coach. The players are excited to compete at this level.
Fenerbahce’s captain, Cigdem Rasna, is ready to rumble at the Club World Championship. She is an experienced player, who has the ability to lead the team in tough situations. Cigdem said that it is their vital chance to play at the Club World Championship and they will certainly put in all their effort to win all their matches.
She further added, "I can say that we are in the process of developing our game as a team. We have very experienced players and coaches, who raise the prospect of winning the World Cup. The championship in Qatar is very important for our team. It is one of our goals this season and we will do our best to finish first by winning all the games. We are very excited to take part in this event and feel very honoured to have been invited".
