Turkish National Basketball team’s coach Orhun Ene comes out in support of Enes Kanter – NBA News
In response to Nihat Izic, who stated yesterday that the Turkish basketball player Enes Kanter is not yet ready to play in NBA, Turkish National Basketball Team’s head coach Orhun Ene flashed the news bulletin with a swift rebuttal.
The 44-year-old Ene negated the idea that Kanter’s decision to join NBA was impulsive and he needed more time to prepare himself for the professional league. Orhun believes that the dynamic centre will have a successful career in the league.
“As the head coach of Turkish National Team I’m not the only one who’s happy about the performance of Enes Kanter’s in the national team. All my assistants, all of the executives, to sum it all everybody is happy with Enes and every one of us strongly believe that he will be very successful both in the NBA and Turkish National Team” Orhun said.
According to the assistant coach of Turkish team Izic, Kanter should have played a season in the Euro League before making himself available for the NBA Draft. Enes was prohibited to play in the University of Kentucky as the NCAA decelerated him illegible due to carrying out some violations. As a result, the 19-year-old Kanter was forced to stay out of the court for nearly one and half year. Being unable to play for that long might be one reason Nihat Izic believes that Kanter is not ready for NBA however, Ene thinks otherwise
“Although he didn’t play for nearly one and a half year, he quickly adapted to our team and established a position where he can show his basketball skills. Though he is very young what he can do on the basketball court is unbelievable.” Orhun said..
Coming into the Draft, the extent of Kanter’s abilities and strength was a riddle for the NBA scouts in the beginning. Enes Kanter’s magnificent performance in the Nike Hoop Summit in 2010, where he landed 34 points and clutched 13 rebounds, was the only reason he gained popularity. However, after impressing the team officials in the NBA Combine workout sessions, Kanter became the top prospects of the 2011 NBA draft.
Utah Jazz drafted the dynamic centre Enes with their third overall pick, a move which was highly anticipated. Few days after the draft, NBA locked out its players upon the expiration of the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement which has hampered Jazz from having an extensive conversation and workout sessions with the newcomer to know him better.
There is no doubt that Kanter is an outstanding player with extra special talent. However, two different opinions from the coaching staff of the Turkish team engender a debate that whether Enes Kanter will have an impressive start to his NBA career or he will struggle at the beginning.
