  1. Dromaqt, that food sounds great. I read the description of a can of dog food, was much the same. Dog food for dogs.  :)

  2. YOGURTLU TAVUK = Layers of chicken, bread and yogurt

Turkish food is lovely, make sure its a turkish chef though ;)

  3. donner kebab

  4. i love to try new things... they that a this one persian restaurant i go to but i tink its a lil diff.

  5. my best friend is turkish and every time i would go over to her house, her parents would cook something turkish..i've tried some of it, and it honestly wasn't good. that's why i don't like going over to her house..

but i guess i just love my american/italian food :)

  6. yogurtlu tavuk I think...

  7. no where near as good as Greek or Arabic

  8. I'm Bulgarian. I'm patriot, but I say- thank Turks for moussaka, drob-sarma, baklava, malebi, kadaif, etc, because this dishes come into our cook-culture from Turk. Greeks said, that moussaka is theirs, OMG! It's not true!

  9. I lived in Germany for 3 years and found that the best food I'd ever tried was Turkish. It's called a Doner Kebab.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%B6ner_...

It has thick pita bread with chicken or beef inside of it, depending on what you choose. Vegetables, a yogurt sauce, optional chili powder, and optional white goat cheese which I recommend and find delicious.  :)

  10. There is no major or popular Turkish food which contains chicken, bread and yoghurt at the same time.

    The possibilities are:

1- I think what you ate was a döner sandwich kebap made with chicken with tartar or yoghurt sauce.

Normally in Turkey they do not use any sauce let alone yoghurt inside their döner sadwiches. But since you've eaten this food outside Turkey, then its very possible that they used yoghurt as a sauce.

2- It might also be a different version of iskender kebap made with chicken instead of lamb. Iskender kebap is served with little bread pieces, tomato sauce and yoghurt. But for your information, its proper version is made with lamb not with chicken.

3- The last possibility is çerkez tavuğu which is Circassian chicken. It is poached chicken with wallnut sauce. But no yoghurt.

  11. not all dishes that are known to be turkish are actually turkish.  many middle eastern foods are integrated.  bakhlava, for instance.

  12. Turkish food is next to amazing! :-) There is a nice place in Newport Kentucky that has wonderful Lamb Kabobs that are to die for :-)
