Turkish team ready to face Romania in first round of semi-finals – Volleyball news
Turkey’s Galatasaray ISTANBUL is scheduled to meet 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA of Romania in the first fixture of semi-final round on Wednesday, March 14.
The important match will be hosted by city of Constanta in Romania, which will serve as a competitive edge for the Tomis ladies. The two teams delivered a stellar performance in the Challenge Round of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup and clawed their way to the
semi-finals.
According to the set formula of the competition, the semi-final stage will feature two matches in order to determine the finalist of CEV Cup. Each team will get the chance to host one match in semis. If the situation remains undecided at the end of two matches,
the team with better set ratio and point ratio will advance to finals.
The Turkish side has performed well in the challenger round and earlier stages of the tournament and is now eyeing a spot in the influential final round. The team is mentored by Dragan Nesic, who has great experience in the game. The head coach of is optimistic
to pull out an amazing job in front of the rowdy Romanian fans in the next match.
Galatasaray proved its endeavours in the Challenge Round by edging out Serbian Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD. The ladies of Galatasaray created a unique scenario and completely whitewashed the opponent. They pulled off success in both matches without dropping a
single set. Nothing less was expected from the Team, which underwent extensive training for the Challenge Round. In the next run, the team is required to exhibit the same terrific performance against the Romanian rivals.
On the other hand, the 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA is not a weak opponent. The Romanian squad worked out great performance in the previous matches of the 2012 CEV Women’s Volleyball Cup. They were challenged by one of the toughest teams of the tournament in the
Challenger Round. Tomis put up great effort against Russian Dinamo KRASNODAR and advanced to the semis.
Tomis participated in the prelims of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League but could not perform up to the mark. The team got eliminated in the preliminary round. However, the Romanian musketeers went beyond all expectations as they defeated Russia’s
strongest sides, Dinamo KRASNODAR, in the Challenge Round.
The upcoming match between Galatasaray and Tomis is definitely going to be one heck of entertainment for the volleyball lovers. Tomis will be equipped with stupendous emotional support of local fans in the first match. The pre-favourites of the 2012 CEV
Women’s Volleyball Cup, Galatasaray, will have to deal with the double challenge.
There is no telling about the possible outcome of the match until the start of the match, which will take centre stage in the next few hours.
