Turkiye International 2012: Stefani Stoeva demolishes Evgeniya Kosetskaya in round-of-16 encounter
Bulgaria’s emerging shuttler Stefani Stoeva continued her crushing run in the tournament and penetrated into Women’s Singles quarter-final after beating Russia’s Evgeniya Kosetskaya in round-of-16 match at Turkiye International 2012 in Turkey, on Thursday,
December 20.
The higher ranked Stefani, who is seeded at number eight in Women’s Singles category in the tournament, entertained the local crowd with her superb skills as she took just 26 minutes to overpower her Russian rival.
Stefani displayed her remarkable skills in the arena without showing any mercy to her un-seeded Russian challenger and easily thrashed her in straight games with a comfortable margin on the score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Evgeniya failed to play her normal game and also lost her focus when it mattered most. She could not respond to the perfectly executed shots of her challenger and eventually crashed out without proving her worth.
Stefani played with outstanding control in her strokes and managed to control the driving seat from opening points of the opening set.
The unmatched variations and tremendous power in Stefani’s shots assisted her in maintaining a huge gap on the board and she did not let her challenger to take charge of rallies.
Until the one-minute break, the confident Stefani stayed calm and composed in the arena and she remained in complete control of rallies without facing any problem from her lower ranked Russian challenger.
Evgeniya tried her best to play aggressively but could not take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding part.
Meanwhile, Stefani did not reduce the speed of the game at any stage and also manipulated all loopholes of her Russian rival that enabled her to win the first game with a striking 21-16 margin on the board.
Evgeniya put in extra effort to play smart badminton in the first part of second set but she failed to build pressure on her challenger.
The well directed smashes and spinning net shots kept Stefani ahead of her challenger all the way until the one-minute interval in second game.
Stefani continued putting up sound show in the concluding half of second game and remained successful in clinching the game with a convincing 21-16 difference on score board.
The impressive Bulgarian lady was on a different level in the pre-quarter-final battle as she did not face any considerable problem in finishing the contest with a comfortable margin of 21-16 and 21-16.
