Turn off a computer through network?

Question

Is there a way to turn a computer off in my personal network through my laptop? Use this as a way to turn off my normal computer fast, or as a joke on April Fool's day.

Yes,  you can setup Windows remote desktop. (Assuming you're using Windows XP)

As an alternative you can use 3rd party software like  Gotomypc.com or others.  In my experience the 3rd party software is actually more reliable than the actual Microsoft embedded software.  Goodluck!

Want to turn off & turn on remote computers immediately or at a later time? Just get LanHelper. This program can schedule a shutdown on your local computer, so you can schedule a shutdown to run after 10 minutes, then you go out... ^_^
