I am turning 14 on July 18. I know its really close and I haven't planned a party yet! I will probably have around 15 people and it is boy/girl mixed. I could have my party at my sister's party place and have a DJ and all that but it a DJ really worth it for 15 people? Or I can have the party at my house but I do not know how to entertain my friends. I will have music but how else should I entertain my friends? Any game suggestions? What else could we do? What did you do for your 14th birthday?

  1. Go to the beach or a amusement park. That's perfect for fifteen people :)

  2. maybe you could go bowling. or if you are at your house, play games like clue, life, and other games like that. also include maybe a pool party if you have a pool. they would probably enjoy that. hope that works.

  3. Have the party outside, set up a volleyball net or play soccer or flag football! Also set up horseshoes or get water balloons and water guns. Don't bother with a DJ, take a CD player and crank it up! Set up a Sundae bar. If you don't have room for outdoor activities, see if you can rent a spot at the park!

  4. If you have ITunes and a wireless router, set up a party playlist and connect your computer to a set of loudspeakers.  Then you will have no need for a DJ.

As far as games go, I think it depends on the type of friends you have.  If they like indoor games, try Balderdash or the "Scene It" DVD games.

How about a game of softball or ultimate frisbee at the local park?  You have almost enough people for 2 full softball teams.   Then afterwards, you could have a cookout (or pizza) and cake back at the house followed by music and the indoor games.

One thing you didn't mention was who would be supervising (parent, older siblings, etc.)

I think I did the same types of things when I turned 14.  It was too long ago to remember (LOL).

  5. I would do an outdoor party and take advantage of the summer weather!

You can do relay races like potato sack races, three legged races, wheelbarrel races, etc.

Set up a volleyball net and play volleyball and badmitten.

Get an inflatable kiddie pool (they're softer), fill it with water and break into 2 teams, have a tug of war, the losing team ends up in the water!

    Waterballoon fights!

Have a pie eating contest, BUT instead of pie, fill the tins with whipped cream, whoever finishes first, wins!

Set up an ice cream bar, get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and whatever your favorite is and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and marachino cherries and have everyone make their own sundaes.  You can get the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store or the plastic sundae glasses at the dollar store.

I would NOT get a DJ for 15 people, not even that it's only 15 people, but just that I would save the big wow things for your sweet 16, you don't want to take that wow factor away, and you can put the money towards other things in this party, and towards your gift, etc.  With the food and gas prices going up, it would be better to wait on it and save it for when you're 16 and have the big blowout party.  I would go with setting up music and speakers outside for you and your friends to enjoy and save your parents the money, and put it toward the food and everything else, the added expense is a LOT, and it would save your parents a LOT to save it and I can assure you they'd appreciate it.  I would just enjoy the party with your friends and the fun you can have with the games and each other and the music that you can provide with your own stereo system.

You can also get a pinata, go to the party store and usually in the same aisle you'll find what's called pinata filler and it's just that, big bags of candy and they'll still be room to add some of your own favorites.  Just make sure to write everyone's names on their bags so no one is fighting over whose bag is whose at the end of the party!

For food, do whatever is YOUR favorite! If that's tacos, do a taco bar, if it's bbq, do burgers and hot dogs and some sides, if it's pizza do that.  It's your birthday and your party, it's time to do what YOUR favorite is!

Another game you can play is pass the ball.  This is where everyone stands in a circle and tosses a ball around.  The object of the game is to keep the ball in the air, whoever drops the ball is OUT, whoever is left standing at the end of the game, when there's ONE person left, that person wins!  The object is to keep the ball going and in the air.  It doesn't matter what order the ball is thrown in, just toss it around the circle to each other, but whoever drops it, is out of the game.

I hope some of these ideas helped and that you have a great party and a very Happy Birthday!!
