Where can I buy hardware that will turn my laptop into a chart plotter? I am aware there are numerous chart plotting programs, I am interested in the GPS receiver (must be wireless) and a card that will plug into the laptop...or is a built in wireless card enough?

  1. look for "bluetooth" adapter options on your GPS devices.  then use a Bluetooth card on the laptop.  This will allow the communication.  now you still need that software.

  2. There are a variety of bluetooth-capable GPS devices on the market. Here's a link to get you started:

Our Acer Aspire 3613WLCi came bluetooth-ready and  we use "Capn Voyager", no problems experienced at all!

    Good Luck!

  3. I actually bought a GPS reciever, bluetooth connectivity on ebay. I never got around to setting it up. If you want it for a fair price I'll put it on ebay and send you a link. I'd only take paypal though. It's a top brand too.

  4. Why not use a usb gps.  They are cheap and small.  I use a $38.00  GpS, 12 channel, very reliable.  Was a closeout on Tigerdirect.com.  It is the size of a matchbook or maybe 2 on top of one another.  Have used it on several different deliveries and it great.  I use rose point software and am impressed how simple and reliable it is.  I have an extension for the gps cable to get out in the open.  The beauty is it needs no seperate power supply by being a usb device.

  5. Not sure but i guess you should state which country you are currently in:):P
