So, I've been an intern at with the local government since the end of May. The time has come for me to return to school. I've written a a letter of resignation, but how do I approach the subject. This is what I've got so far:

Walk in to the city managers office and say:

Okay that's all I've got. Any help would be appreciated!

  1. I would simply write a brief statement stating:

    To Whom It May Concern,

Today, (put the date in here), I would like to  begin my final two weeks working for your organization.  I am going to be returning to school and can no longer fill my obligation here.  I would like to thank you for the opportunity to work for your organization this summer.

    Thank you,

    (name)

  2. I agree w Mychell.  A short note explaining the circumstance and thanking them for the opportunity to learn.  Always leave on a good note.

  3. Just say that you want to continue your education at '''university''' and that to do as well in your studies as you want, you'll need to discontinue your internship until the next break.  Say something like, If you'll have me back, winter break is 'date - date' and then spring break is 'break-break' and then I'll be off for the summer again starting on such and such date.

I've learned a lot while working here....some of which includes 'blah blah blah'

    Thank you for this opportunity.
